Cambodia 2010
JUNE 14TH, 2010
Well, we're about to head to southeast Asia here in a couple of days. We are going to Cambodia for about 3 weeks and we end the trip in Thailand for the last 10 days. Britt wrote a grant For us to go over there and shoot a documentary on the effect the genocide of the Khmere Rouge of the 80's and 90's has had on the teaching population. we will be doing lots of filming and in general researching what makes the people there tick. We will be volunteering with the program "Teachers across borders" for two weeks and then traveling around to see the country. It's going to be a very eye-opening trip for us I'm sure as neither one of us has ever been to a third world country. Britt's half of the trip is paid for with the grant, so I only have to pay for my half of the trip which is a great deal. Thailand will be the relaxing part of the trip and I am very excited to see a paradise I have wanted to visit for about ten years now.
It's gonna be a longer trip for us and things of course have been hectic getting ready and upon returning I have set up for myself a three rest before the very large and very busy Bele Chere festival. SO needless to say the summer is packed. But this is what life is about, traveling to new places and meeting new faces. Being of service and seeing what the rest of world is like. Stretching the rubber band of life so that it encompasses a larger and larger perspective.....
I will post more upon our return, and may your summer be as fulfilling and awareness expanding as I know mine will be!
