Woolworth Walk will be displaying a joint exhibit in their F.W. Gallery for the month of April. Figures, Feathers, and Form features sculptures and paintings by Kyle Keeler and Laurie Yeates Adams. An opening reception will be held on Friday, April 7, from 5–7 p.m. in conjunction with the season’s initial First Friday Art Walk in downtown Asheville.
After graduating from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA, Adams had a long string of traditional careers before finding her place in the art world. “I have been painting in oils for many years and my main concentration has been on the figure in some form or fashion,” she says. This concentration led the artist to start exploring clay sculpture about five years ago. “I have found that painting the figure has helped me sculpt the figure and sculpting the figure has helped inspire my paintings,” she says.
A native of Colorado, Keeler first encountered the art of blown glass through local artists in Fort Collins in 2001. In 2007, the self-taught artist relocated to Asheville, where he operates his art business in partnership with his wife. Keeler and Adams are not only drawn together by their F.W. Gallery show, but also by Keeler’s wife, who is Adams’ daughter. When Adams started working with clay, she and Keeler began collaborating more often. “We saw the contrast with glass being light and smooth and shiny and translucent, and her clay work being very textured and earthy and solid and organic,” says Keeler. “We thought it would make a great combination.”
F.W. Gallery at Woolworth Walk is located at 25 Haywood Street in downtown Asheville. Have you ever heard of Ben and Jerry's ice cream?  They are now on a new mission called Stampede.  Because I do a lot of cash sales, I thought this would be something I could easily become involved with.  I really love their mission and wanted to share it with you all...
The Stampede is a mass, sustained demonstration against big money in politics. With already over 65,000 people all across the country stamping their cash with the Stampede, this people-powered grassroots campaign is a striking visual display of the growing demand in this country for change--change with how our elections are funded and how big moneyed groups influence government policies at the expense of "We the People."
The goal of stamping paper currency is to get these anti-big-money messages stamped on your bills seen by as many people as possible....Now you can be a casual stamper and not follow stamping tips or you can be an expert stamper and follow them.  We love all stampers.  But we love expert stampers more.

There are so many unique and fun things to do while visiting Asheville.  One of my favorite places to have lunch and sit out on the patio is at the The Omni Grove Park Inn.  They have delicious food and their patio seating offers incredible views of Asheville.  You can walk around the grounds and they have some incredible galleries including Gallery of the Mountains, which currently feature my largest selection of feather ornaments.      Many people ask me where they can find my work.  I feel so blessed to be one of 4 glass artists that have a booth in Asheville's Woolworth Walk.  The Woolworth Walk features about 170 local artists offering jewelry, fine art, decorative art and crafts in it's nearly 20,000 square feet of air-conditioned, quality display space.  The Historic F.W. Woolworth Building in the heart of downtown Asheville, is home to a uniquely "Asheville" experience; a place where you can browse the best local art while sipping a milkshake from the Old Fashioned Soda Fountain.
     Woolworth Walk's goal is to provide a venue for local artists to connect with art lovers, to share their passion to create art and to enhance your surroundings when you take something home. So please stop in and check out my booth located right by the soda fountain.

    As many of you know I am always looking for places to get naturally molted feathers for my feather ornaments. One organization that has donated many feathers to me is Phoenix Landing. This is an amazing organization dedicated to the welfare of parrots.  They offer educational opportunities, facilitate adoption of parrots of all kinds, work with veterinary students interested in avian care, sponsor research and conservation of wild parrots, advocate standards of care for birds, and to this date have helped 2,585 birds get the homes and care that they need.
